Chaka Khan is one of the world’s most gifted and celebrated musicians, with a legacy that spans decades. A 10-time GRAMMY® Award-winner, she is preparing for a celebration worthy of her extraordinary career. More than just a singer, Chaka is a multifaceted artist—songwriter, actor, author, philanthropist, entrepreneur, and activist—who has left an indelible mark on generations of recording artists. Renowned for her versatility, Chaka possesses the rare ability to perform across seven music genres: R&B, pop, rock, gospel, country, world music, and classical. Known affectionately around the globe simply as Chaka, she is revered not only by her millions of fans but also by her musical peers for her timeless sound and unmatched vocal style. The legendary Miles Davis once remarked, “She sings like my horn,” while the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, called her “a one-of-a-kind, premier vocalist.” Chaka’s influence is reflected in her accolades: Billboard named her the 65th most successful dance artist of all time in 2016, and VH1 ranked her No. 17 on its original list of the 100 Greatest Women of Rock & Roll. She has been nominated twice for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, first in 2011 as a member of Rufus. Over her illustrious career, Chaka has released 22 albums, earned ten #1 hits on Billboard’s charts, and achieved seven RIAA-certified gold singles along with ten gold and platinum albums. Her music catalogue has amassed over 2,000 song placements, a testament to its lasting impact. Reflecting on her remarkable journey, Chaka shares, “I am honored and blessed to celebrate 40 years in music and entertainment. I’m so humbled by the love, support, and gracious spirit of my fans worldwide, and the continuous support from my peers.” In June 2018, she released a new single, Like Sugar, in collaboration with Major Lazer member Switch. The track is part of an upcoming album expected to release later this year.
